"Sweden Triathlon is one of the founding members of triathlon in Europe and World Triathlon. So we are use to drive change and development ! The members of the Swedish Triathlon Association are non-profit associations. The association has four districts - West, East, North and South - which make up the triathlon's regional organization. An association that is a member of the Swedish Triathlon Association automatically becomes a member of the district where it has its geographical affiliation.
They have over the 25 years grown in a stable and sustainable way. Today, the federation is made up of 246 members (local clubs) and a total of approx. 13 000 members whereof 61% are men and 39% women. Equality in their sport has been a key element since the very beginning and still are. Sweden had one of the first women Presidents of a National Federation and has always had well balanced EB of
both genders. One key element within triathlon but also within Swedish Sport Confederation and the Swedish Olympic Committee, has always been to support and strive for equality in sports. And they have come a very long way and are in the forefront in these areas. Not only in gender equality but also in good governance. Therefore, they will be able to contribute to other countries, with their experience,
knowledge, and governance in this matter.
Even though the Swedish Federation of Triathlon has not been involved in a European project before,nationally they have been part of the strategic work setting the overall Strategy for the sports in Sweden that belongs to the Sports Confederation, where one part contains equally. In that regards, they have been involved to set the target and standard where we like to be with respect to equality and good
governance."
